Grant Guidelines

Who We Fund

We provide grants to non-profit organizations qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code serving animal-related causes.

We consider a broad range of animal-focused work. Examples include animal welfare, cruelty prevention, wildlife protection and conservation, animal wellbeing education, anti-poaching and prevention of illegal trafficking, animal emergency response and disaster relief, and other animal-focused projects.

Given the volume of requests we receive, we prioritize critical, high-impact projects, though we continue to support general operations and longstanding grantee relationships.

Our grants typically range from $500 to $2,500.

In general, we do not fund: (1) individuals, (2) debt reduction, (3) academic related research, (4) event sponsorships, or (5) endowments.

Grantmaking Process

1. Letter of Inquiry. Most of our grants are committed through proactive research. However, if you’re looking for a grant, you can email a letter of inquiry (LOI) to GomezNearFoundation@gmail.com. The LOI should include:

The name and EIN of your 501(c)(3) organization.
A brief description of your grant request (e.g., amount, purpose, timeframe).
Evidence of your track record of impact. This is typically an annual impact report or other writing which reflects your impact in numbers.
Any other information you think relevant. Please consider that we find concise LOIs tend to be more impactful.

We review all LOIs on a rolling basis. We have been receiving an overwhelming number of inquiries. So, by default, we may not respond to unsolicited proposals or to inquiries that do not align with our focus areas.

2. Submit a proposal (this step is by invitation only)

Following review of your LOI, we will contact you if you have been selected to submit a more detailed proposal.

3. Application review and response

The Board will review all full proposals on a rolling basis. We will provide response on your application within 90 days. Grant reporting requirements are determined by grant amount. Requirements will be discussed with you in advance and outlined in an award notification letter.
